Naomi was born on May 10th at 9:49pm after a five-and-a-half-hour labor. My labor was intense right from the beginning. My initial contractions were only six minutes apart. Blissborn played a vital role in my ability to get through the contractions. I listened to disc 6 about two hours into my labor. My doula would later inform me that during this time it was difficult for her to tell when I was having a contraction because I made no sound or movement. While I did feel the intensity of each wave, I really tried to relax and “let go” from head to toe so that my labor could progress quickly.
Shortly after I completed disc 6, my contractions became so intense that my doula believed I was entering transition. My doula, husband, two close friends and I went to the birth house at about 8:15pm. My midwife checked me and I was dilated to a 7. I got into the birthing tub where I completed transition. It felt so good to be in the tub. After a short period of time I felt a strong urge to push. My midwife and doula were very supportive of my desire to push. I pushed 5 times to bring my daughter into the world. It was such a powerful, emotional, and overwhelming moment when I finally felt my daughter in my arms. Naomi weighed 7 # 11 oz.
Thank you, Pat, for helping to prepare me and my husband for Naomi’s birth.
